This tour is based in the southern gateway town of the lake district, Kendal. The lake district is renowned for its outstanding beauty,serene shimmering lakes and wealth of historical heritage. Join us and discover why it is a popular destination with so many year after year.

Itinerary

Day 1: We catch the early morning sailing to North Wales, continuing along the Welsh coastline, making comfort stops enroute, arriving at our base in the lake district early evening.

Day 2: This morning we take the short trip to the beautiful lakeside village of Bowness. Here we take a cruise on Lake Windermere and enjoy the serenity of its beautiful waters. Later we step back in time and enjoy a trip on the Lakeside & Havertswaite Steam Train to Ulverston.

Day 3: This morning we visit The Lakeland Museum. Here we explore the rich social history and traditional heritage of the Lake District. Recreated exhibitions of time gone by show how different life was for people in rural communities in The Cumbrian Region. Afterwards free time is given to explore the market town of Kendal.

Day 4: Today a local guide takes us around some of the historical sights of this magnificent area. We visit the home of the famous writer William Wordsworth and learn about Beatrix Potter, a conservationist and writer also associated with the area. A day full of interest.

Day 5: Unfortunately we must leave this morning and make our way back to North Wales for our afternoon sailing to Dublin, arriving home early evening.

Hotel: Riverside Hotel, Kendal.
Situated on the banks of the River Kent and only a fewminutes walk from the town centre, this hotel is popular with coach parties as a base to explore the Lake District. Each of the 47 ensuite rooms are tastefully decorated and the hotel has excellent bar, restaurant and leisure facilities.
