This trip takes us to the heart of Ireland where we join our boat for a cruise on the river Shannon. We board our “Viking ship” at Athlone retracing the steps of many famous travellers. On board commentary is provided as you sail towards historic Lough Rea.

Afterwards your coach will transfer you to Athlone town centre where you will have free-time to explore this famous old town.

Known as the gateway to the west because of its position on the river Shannon the town has a fantastic Medieval Castle which is open to the public to visit.

This is just one of the many attractions you can visit in your free-time. Later, on your return home we stop for a well deserved meal arriving home early evening.
