Matthews Win Four in a Row

Over the past two weeks local Company Matthews Coach Hire, have been busy collecting awards in safety and business growth. Starting with the Fleet Safety Awards, Matthews were awarded for the introduction of the Alcolock 500 Breathalysers & their very detailed Health & Safety policy in place in the company. This was awarded at a ceremony held in Marriot Johnston House, on October 6th, where they were joined by other coach operators.

Following on from that, on the 14th of October, Matthews were invited to an awards ceremony with the RSA in Farmleigh House Dublin, where they where greeted by Mr Gay Byrne Chairman & Mr Noel Brett CEO of the Road Safety Authority. The awards recognise and honour the outstanding efforts of people from local community groups, media, schools and business nationwide to have improved safety on Irish Roads.
Out of the six awards on the day Matthews Coaches, picked up two which were: The Leading Lights Road Safety Awards and also the Supreme Award for implementing a series of road safety measures to improve the safety of their fleet, in particular the fitting of Alcolock 500 breathalysers.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Mr Gay Byrne, said, “ in every community across Ireland, there are ordinary people doing extraordinary work, quietly but tirelessly working to reduce deaths and serious injuries on Irish roads. They do this, not for their own benefit but for the benefit of every single person who use the roads so that we can all live in a community free of carnage. These are the unsung heroes of road safety. And it give me great pride and honour to be able to thank them personally for their outstanding achievements.”
Then on Saturday October 17th, Matthews attended the Gala Ball hosted by the Dundalk Chamber of Commerce a yearly event held in the Fairways, and picked up an award in Best Business Growth, speaking at the event, Managing Director, Paddy Matthews, said it was a great achievement to be awarded this by the people of Dundalk and also to be able to pick up a Growth Award, with the times that is in it.

Looking back on the four awards Matthews Coach Hire have collected, Paddy Matthews, Managing Director, said it is a great achievement but stressed that in the current economic climate we cannot take our eye off the ball. The recognition is a great bonus, but all the measures we take on safety & environmental issues are part of what each one of us must do to keep our roads safer & greener. Paddy also thanked the team at Matthews Coach Hire both drivers and office staff for their combined efforts in helping to achieve these four awards.
